When the LCD display on your industrial equipment suddenly turns bluish, reddish, or exhibits overall color distortion, it not only degrades the user experience but may also signal underlying issues with signal transmission or the screen itself. In critical applications such as power monitoring, medical devices, or in-vehicle systems, accurate display information is the lifeline of safety and efficiency. If you encounter abnormal coloration, don’t panic—systematic troubleshooting is key.

[Sensitive term] Step: Strip away the color, and the basic assessment will become immediately clear!
The first priority is to simplify the issue. Try displaying a screen with solid black-and-white images or text. If you observe unusual color patches, streaks, uneven backlighting, or localized darkening/brightening at this stage, the problem likely points to physical damage to the display (such as compression marks or dead pixels), a malfunctioning backlight system, or unstable drive voltage. This step is akin to “verifying the root cause” of the display issue, quickly distinguishing between “external hardware trauma” and subsequent “internal color‑related malfunctions.”

Step 2: Conduct a “health check” on the three primary colors to identify problematic channels!
If the display shows no issues in black-and-white mode, color abnormalities can be traced to the signal‑processing stage. At this point, a separate test of the three primary colors—red, green, and blue—is required. Display each color full‑screen: pure red, pure green, and pure blue. Observe carefully: Is any one color missing? Is it unusually dim? Or are unwanted color artifacts present? For example, if pink or [sensitive term] speckles appear when displaying pure red, this points directly to a fault in the driver circuitry for that color subpixel, poor contact on the FPC flex cable, or a malfunction in the specific color channel output of the control IC. This “color‑separation diagnosis” step precisely pinpoints the root cause of the problem.

Step 3: Core Color Calibration—RGB/BGR Order!
Still unable to resolve the issue after the first two steps? The problem may lie in the “communication protocol” between the software and the hardware—specifically, the order in which color data is arranged. Different LCD panels use either an RGB or BGR arrangement for their red (R), green (G), and blue (B) subpixels. If the color‑data sequence output by the control platform (such as your device’s motherboard or microcontroller)—RGB—does not match the screen’s default reception order—e.g., BGR—the entire image will display with colors completely scrambled, with red and blue swapped. In this case, be sure to consult the screen’s datasheet and the platform’s driver settings, and verify that the Color Format or Pixel Order is set to exactly match. This step is crucial for overcoming the “color‑language barrier,” restoring the image to its intended, accurate hues.
Technical Upgrade Notice If color‑matching issues occur frequently, consider a custom‑designed LCD panel. As a Chinese LCD manufacturer with 14 years of industry expertise, CNK Electronics can tailor display modules to natively support RGB or BGR color sequences, eliminating compatibility risks at the hardware level.
